I'm working on a review and I wanna know if it's really long if it should be broken down into different topics?

Thanks.

Check out my Flickr! Last updated: October 19th, 2009. No big MOCs from me for a while, I've got a vignette I'm working on, and it's using my best pieces.

It's really up to you. Certainly, a longer review can take longer to write as well as read, but I know both myself and many of the members love a good, thorough review that really delves deeply into the nitty gritty of your thoughts on a particular item.

It'd say focusing on a certain subsection (parts that were included in a recent order you add, a certain genre of weapons, everything that was included with a new site update) might make for a better review.

Thanks, badger. That's good to know. Oh yeah, I was wondering if it was ok if I called you badg from now on? If not, that's fine.

Glad I could help.

Sure, badg is fine. I really don't expect people to type out "the enigma that is badger" every time they want to refer to me. Surely, that wouldn't make any sense.

For the record, is there a minimum length for a review? I was considering doing one, eventually. ;)

Well I don't know what the official rules are, but I'd imagine the same that apply to most essays: the minimum or maximum length is simply the number of words you need to clearly and thoughtfully get your idea across without being redundant. I'd think the goal was to have people share their insights into the products they bought (both the good and the bad), so why limit that with a maximum or make people fill it with excess with a minimum?

Absolutely correct. We did consider adding some kind of more strict guidelines for this forum (word count, number of accessories reviews) but then thought we'd trust the members to write the best reviews they could, using some of great examples that had already been composed as a guide.

What we're looking for in a review: detailed, insightful, and thorough. That's it!

I'm lovin' your new name...

While I do like an in-depth review, I wouldn't read it if I thought that it would take more than an hour.

Sometimes if a review is really long, I just read the reviews for some of my favorite weapons.

This is a nice thread and all, but I keep thinking it should be moved to the "Ask Will" section.

This thread was originally in Ask Will, but as it was specific to this forum, I moved it here. I also thought that the statements made in this thread might help members with composing their reviews.
