Simple! Just saw it off and pretend the mark doesn't exist.

Depite the fact that it is a little tall, I think that this would make a great addition to the BA lineup.

Lt. Gen. James Longstreet: General Lee, if they put every man they have on this side of the Rappahannock; you give me enough ammunition and I'll kill every one of them.

I just realized "Vampir" means "Vampire", so that's why it's great for night missions.

It is the Mp44. Thus the title. :-P

No, actually. It is historically accurate to what was used at the time.

Excellent weapon! Reminds me of a paper on WW2 weapons I wrote back in junior high (I was 14 at the time I guess..), in which I devoted quite some space to the StG 44\MP 44 - the "Vampir" attachment was of course mentioned in *detail*!

Found a nice video, describing the weapon! :D

MP44 video

Edit: Dunno if this has been mentioned before, but the MP44 is actually the "grandfather" of the G3 rifle (a rifle yours truly carried during his compulsory military service), the father being the post-war CETME rifle. And because the MP5 is based on the roller-delayed blowback of the three before mentioned rifles, the MP44 is its great-grandfather! ;)

A bit off-topic, I know, but I'm quite passionate about such fine weapons, including those used to arm minifigs! ;)
