For the particular picture you provided, I think it looks a bit cartoony. I think that I would still like to use an ammo chain over a canister, regardless of what it looked like because it like you know cooler(in my opinion). -Frankadoodle

Yes, but it is still a viable option, as the design that Will has shown us has the clip connector on the side. As they always say... If you can't beat them, Then self-detonate, and take them ALL WITH YOU!!!Edges Synthos CorpBLUB BLUB

kill boy wrote:Question to Badger: did you suggest this to Will? Sort of. The idea of adding a Minigun as been near the top of Will's list for some time, but there was some concern about creating a two-handed accessory that was versatile, true to the real-life versions, and able to be produced via the types of molds Will uses to create the BrickArms accessories. Over the years, I have been a strong advocate of the Minigun to Will ( see this thread here!), but really, it was Will's exceptional design skill that has made it a reality. The design is still a work in-progress, but I don't doubt if and when it sees mass production, it'll be a true centerpiece to any BrickArms collection.

I noticed the front handle (closer to the barrel) appears to be cut. Am I seeing this correctly? I know this is the prototype, I'm just trying to get inside Will's mind as to the working parts of the minigun. Is the plan to have a similar piece here in the front? I was wondering if there was going to be any detail for the trigger housing assembly anywhere. Seems this would be difficult, as the monopod is where that would be in most models.

Right now, the handle is just a grippable bar that's bent at a 90 degree angle Will cut down to a size that worked for the accessory. Will does plan to design a more detailed front handle that will be much more polished. Quote:I was wondering if there was going to be any detail for the trigger housing assembly anywhere. Seems this would be difficult, as the monopod is where that would be in most models. Probably not given the Monopod is part Will already has in stock, works perfectly as a handle that always allows for a lot of posing options, fits right into the minifig hand with no obstructions, and is easily removed and reattached. I've tried a few different ways to mounting this item, and having that grippable rod really allows for some neat ways to attach it to vehicles and other MOCs!

Here's a question I was meaning to ask Will: As much as the manportable configuration looks neat, I'm a bigger fan of spade-gripped miniguns. Would it be possible to have the minigun come with an optional removable spade grip attachment? Enlist in Alpha Company today! Now that I look at the minigun again, was it difficult to make a dual grip for it? -Frankadoodle

frankadoodle wrote:was it difficult to make a dual grip for it? Somewhat, given that for a two-handed design to work, the accessory needs to perfectly fit into the geometry of the fig, especially in regards to the distance between the hands. However, Will has a perfectly accurate CAD model of a minifig in his design program, allowing him to make sure an accessory will fit even before he prototypes it! It isn't 100% effective given changes associated with the CAD-to-prototype transition, it is an exceptionally powerful tool that lets Will take his already formidable CAD designing skills to the next level.

the enigma that is badger wrote:..lets Will take his already formidable CAD designing skills to the next level. Thanks Badger! I'm quite proud of the fact that I'm the only customizer that designs everything myself. I work directly in 3D, instead of simply handing 2D sketches to someone halfway across the world, giving the design process to someone else. I could never work that way!

I don't think I've commented on this yet but I NEED one of these!I can't wait until they are released, but I dont think it will be until 2010.This is great even without the spade grips, but those would make it even better! This is by far my favourite prototype, and REALLY hope it sees mass production within the next year. I plan to get several of these, once they are released. They'll make excellent portable weapons emplacements, as well as end boss weapons. And they're so customizable from what we can see, the options are endless! As they always say... If you can't beat them, Then self-detonate, and take them ALL WITH YOU!!!Edges Synthos CorpBLUB BLUB
