Once again, I will be a vendor (and sponsor) of NW BrickCon in Seattle this year, October 5-7. I'll have the entire BrickArms inventory available for purchase. On Sunday morning, I'm giving a presentation on "Making Your Own Bricks", where I'll show how I design and produce my own prototype bricks with my CNC machine and injection molder. I'll show the process all the way from start to finish, and I'll even have some of my prototype molds and parts available for inspection. And, I may even bring my injection molder! (NOTE: ABS gives off some nasty fumes when heating up, so I won't demo the injection molder at the show) As a special surprise, I'll bring a couple of interesting things I've been working one.. More on that, later! I'll see you all in October!

As you will recall, last year at NW BrickCon and this year at BrickFest , I spent most of the 1 hour I was allotted showing in real-time how I design the parts in CAD. This time, I'll spend a bit less time on the CAD side, and focus more on the entire process of making your own bricks, from conception to production. Here's what I intend to cover: 1. Conception - What would you like to make? 2. Design - Can it be simplified to work at minifig-scale? 3. Prototyping - How do we cut a test mold, and how can we test it in plastic? 4. Testing - What does Timmy think of your part? What needs to be fixed? 5. Production - Can we make them as good as Lego? BTW - This time, I'll be bringing the injection molder to the show. ABS give off an odor when it melts, so if we can figure out how to run a long extension cord out the main doors to the outside, I could actually mold some parts on-site outdoors! I'll bring a number of prototype molds of various items, and it could be fun to mold some parts in fun colors for people to take home from the show. ---Will

Wow, what a show! It is 9:30 on Sunday night, and I am totally wiped out. We had over 2700 people visit the show (and the Brick Bazaar) this year, and all of them seemed to have a really great time. I brought the M1 Garand prototype. I also brought... My MA5C-ish and M6G-ish prototypes as well! So, to all you Halo fans out there - photos with be forthcoming as soon as I get some sleep. :) Here's some shots already up on Flickr, shot by Joe Meno http://flickr.com/photos/brickjournal/1507589640/http://flickr.com/photos/brickjournal/1503395927/And some more shot by our very own Dunechaser, Andrew Becraft: http://flickr.com/photos/dunechaser/1511807102/http://flickr.com/photos/dunechaser/1510948917/NEW: Lonnon Foster's shots: http://flickr.com/photos/lonnon/1510823098/http://flickr.com/photos/lonnon/1509957185/Sleep.. must sleeeeep! ---Will

It was great meeting you at the show. And, thank you very much for giving me the Kashyyyk Trooper torso to use with my Master Chief. It looked very good on the display rack, and received a lot of compliments as he wielded the M6G and MA5C. And, I haven't forgotten your request for the PPG handgun from Babyon 5. :)

Yes, I sure will. Getting back to "real life" after an entire weekend at a Lego convention is proving difficult for me. :) I'm still unpacking! I know I'll find my camera in one of the boxes, and I hope I find it tonight. ;)

I hope Will doesn't mind me interposing myself here. Since he hasn't had a chance to upload the photos from BrickCon yet, and I know you guys are dying to see the items, I'll go ahead and show them off. I'm guessing Will won't mind since he's already gone and announced them. The Jester Laughs Because The World Is Full Of Fools

[MOD - I can appreciate the excitment over the news that Will is going to be producing HALO-inspired accessories, but please remember the topic of this thread is NWBrickcon 2007. Any discussion about the HALO items can continue here. Thanks - badger]
