The Irish Republican Army, fighting to take back their country from the British rule in Ireland.
The IRA are famous for fighting in small groups of 3-10 Soldiers.
Having ancestors from Ireland, I would love to see a BA version, as they say "The luck of the Irish."

Clearly you have no idea how controversial the subject and situation is. A pretty stern No from me.

If another forum member has a problem with it, I have no problem with it being removed.

Yeah baby! As a harrdcore rebelious Irish boy this is right up my alley! I don't see how it would be any more "controversial" than the good ol' 'Bandit Brothers'. But what type of weapons do you suppose such a fig would have, and the headwear?

I don't know...it would be good to get more "rebel" type figs made by BA. Also, does anyone else find it ironic that the man in the picture, someone who is trying to fight the British, is using a British made gun?

Well, for the gun, maybe an M4, posing as an AR-15, and maybe the hat that's on aan angle and has the ridges on the sides. And for the head maybe the "shadow" head or "specs" heads from the dino attack set and the torsos could be dino attack as well. Here is a link for the Dino attack figs set. Heh, and I was told there wouldn't be controversy.

How about a M4 and monopod and a m23.
As for the hat how about a Kepi hat in dark gray.

First off the picture isn't an I.R.A member, I think Will would have to get new decals too. No from me.

I think it would be great but BA has gotten into trouble before with the BA bandit which was seen on the news as a lego terrorist so I think it would be good but we might loose the UK customers if Will went through with this.

MOD - A few points:

- I'm glad this thread has stayed away from any political discussion, and if it could stay that way, I'd greatly appreciate it (as I wouldn't have to take the time to delete every thread that does so). One person's "terrorist" is another person's "freedom fighter," completely depending on your perspective on the matter. After all, minifigs are just pieces of plastic which can't have political ideologies, so discussion about the political motivations of a minifig that doesn't include anything specific to a particular political or military group are moot.

- The "BrickArms Bandit controversy" was due to a fundamental misunderstanding of that particular figures not to mention BrickArms and it's products. It didn't effect Will negatively in any way, and that event does not influence Will's thinking on future plans. After all, the vast amount of support shown by fans of BrickArms, builders in general, and even folks outside the building community showed they love what BrickArms produces, and given nothing about BrickArms is remotely controversial (unless twisted into something it isn't), Will doesn't plan to ever change.

- Discussing a particular suggestion for a fig doesn't mean you condone or support the political, philosophical, religious, or social ideology espoused by the group.

- However, keep in mind that Will develops products in broad themes and generalities to allow for more room for creative play and building. What about this fig is different from a generic "urban fighter?"

Thanks for keeping this all in mind!

In all fair honesty, nothing. They are the one and the same. They used American, Soviet and British made weapons, used anything they could get their hands on etc.
I honestly don't want to get into the whole IRA thing myself. But I suppose my attitude to this idea is simply "It can be made in other ways." I'm not for it, nor am I against it. Afterall, Northen Irelands Deputy First Minister, and quite a few other members, were once members of this organisation.

Exactly why I don't see why this would need to be labelled as someone from a particular group. Surely there has already been suggestions for figures, that are essentially: soldiers, wearing camo, that carry guns.

Thanks for that badger. This thread had the same potential for being turned into a Somali Pirate type thread, where the politics are what everyone's discussing...
That said I will not say more on the politics, only that I feel the BA bandit fills the role of all International criminals.
And lastly the first photo provided, is in fact, a british soldier.

All the links above are IRA men. They uncannily resemble the BA bandit, don't ya think...

Yeah I think the concept of ^ that quote could run into issues.

Not really. I'm hardly the first person to make that statement, and it only points out many things we consider to be true are deeply influenced by our point of view.
