Announcing the BrickArms Battles Vignette Contest!

To enter this contest, you'll need to create a vignette that features a completely off-the-wall, anachronistic battle between two factions, both of whom are armed with BrickArms products. The crazier the mismatch and wilder the battle, the better! A group of knights with Damien Blades facing off against a MP40-armed German troops backed up by a Panzer tank? A squad of scifi troopers aiming their M41 Pulse Rifles at some advancing WWII-era soldiers with Lee-Enfields and Bazookas? Anything you can dream up and build is fair game!

The Rules

- The vignette must be a complete new build that has previously not been posted on any location online

- Figs or builds that are part of both opposing factions featured in the vignette should feature some BrickArms products

- The baseplate of the vignette must range from 1x1 to 32x32 studs, no larger

- There should be no overhang (parts of the vignette that extend over the boundaries of the baseplate) in the build

- There is no limit on height, so feel to include some aerial action above the battleground

- You can enter as many vignettes as you like

- You must include one photo that clearly depicts the entire vignette. However, you can and should include several pictures showcasing the details of your vignette.

- Picture sizes should be formatted to no larger than 600 x 600 pixels. Use the Irfanview program to check the size and easily resize your images to within that limit.

- Any submissions that do no follow the above rules will be removed from the competition

How to Enter

- Post your newly-created vignette in the BBVC Subforum of the Vignettes and Dioramas Forum of this board.

- When starting the thread for each entry submitted, name the thread as follows: BBVC Entry: Name of Your Vignette Here

- Send the enigma that is badger a PM with a link to the thread you have created for your entry

- Last date for entries to be submitted: Midnight (Central Time) August 23

Criteria for Judging

- Overall quality of the build

- Creativity of the battle depicted

- Innovation in the use of BrickArms accessories

There will be three winners: A Grand Prize Winner and two Runners-up. Prizes will be an assortment of BrickArms accessories, including accessories in rare colors, chrome items, and prototypes.

Good luck and be sure to let your imagination run wild!

Just a quick thing I came across while building, does a minifig head going over the edge of the baseplate when leaning over count as overhang?

MOD - No, so long as only the fig is what's extending beyond the edge of the baseplate - badger

Great, ANother Contest! ONe question, does the battle have to be between 2 parties, or can it be between 3 parties or 2 parties teamed up against 2 other parties?
I know the was a little confusing, sorry;)
-SMidy

MOD - While one faction against another is the minimum, if you feel like you can do a nice scene with more fighting against each other, that's fine so long as all sides are BrickArms-equipped! - badger

-Great, Thanks Badger.

So both armies have to have brickarms?(Every soldier on each side has to have one, or atleast one guy from each side?)
I might try to make a small vig. I'll need to plan.

MOD - There should be a healthy array of BrickArms on all sides of the conflict. Consider different weapons a great way to differentiate the sides of the battle! - badger

Would Apocalego vs Modern Marines count? Since the Apocalego forces would have more or less the same weapons, just different vehicles, bases, and attires.

How far can we go when using the term Faction? For example, would streetgangs count, or is it strictly Militaristic?

Yea, would the Mafia count? I'm starting a huge Mafia Diorama for BrickWorld 2010, I haven't started yet, so If I could get it done before the deadline, I'll add another faction/enemy.

MOD - Just two or more groups. Doesn't matter how they're connected, just that they're together and fighting someone else!

I have been planning a Metal Gear Solid diorama, one that features Old Snake sneaking through a battle between a rebel force and a Private Military Corporation, would that count?

MOD - Sure, that could work, although that's not really the crazy, off-the-wall showdown we're really looking for with this contest. - badger

Well, I guess I'll save that diorama for another contest, huh :P I'll figure out something new.

Oh, man. I gotta get building! This sounds awesome. Most of the time having two completely different factions is kinda weird, but in this case, it's what you guys want. I can't wait to get building!

Sweet! I've already started mine, would seals with Guns vs. zombies count???

MOD - Yes, any two BrickArms-equipped groups fighting counts - badger

Also, can I use photoshop to make it better?

MOD - No, all aspects of the build must be physical. No photoshop or other digital manipulation. - badger

Ok, thanks! ;)

Hmmm...Okay, I'll try this one out.

War is instinct, man has fought and killed as far back as there were men. Instinct to see a threat and kill it. We fight from when we are toddlers up to when we die. You see humans HAVE to fight, or no progress would ever be made.

Just so I'm clear on something, minifigs are allowed to hang, and parts aren't? Otherwise anything smaller than 2x3 would be impossible.

This looks fun. I bet I can make a Star Wars Vignette feturing some clones fighting against some battle droids with Brickarms guns. I have some Clone Wars troops and a lot of droids I can create with. I might enter with them.

Question? If we have used the minifigs in other pictures can we use them in this?

Can we include a story with the vig?

MOD - Sure, but the MOC will be judged solely on the build - badger
