Interestingly, this sketch was done way before I even discovered BrickArms. Luckily three of the weapons are either existing or upcoming BA accessories. Lego States' Darkfire Special Operations Command's Team LiberatorNamed after their titular Boeing D1 Liberator Dropship prototype (the production version is available to all LS Army units), Team Liberator utilises next-generation weapons and unorthodox combat tactics alongside the regular LS Army 2nd Infantry Division, A Company in their joint war against terrorism, racism, Communism and pretty much everything that is...what's the word... bad? Left to Right: Lt. Col. Bryce Stickland (SPAS-12), Mission specialist - engineering (Kiwi) Lt. Col. Rachit Bhatia (OICW), Mission specialist - objective (Indian) Lt. Col. Igor Vigo (HK MP5), Vehicles Specialist, ex-Martian Starfighter Corps (Martian) Lt. Col. Jason Sexton (OICW), Medical officer (Kiwi) Col. Robin Chang (OICW), Team Commander (Taiwanese) Lt. Col. Marcel Jekel (Mk48), Gunnery officer (Kiwi) Lt. Col. Isaiah Esteban (SPAS-12 and WP Grenade), Demolitions specialist (Fillipino) Lt. Col. Lochana "Wedge" Wjesundra (OICW), Communications specialist (Sri Lankan) Spot the one available and two upcoming BAs' :) Enlist in Alpha Company today! Rick's holding the Vectra Armaments/DSOC Thermopulse (Objective Individual Combat Weapon) OICW. Jase, Robin (me) and Wedge also have them. Ah, looks like this might help: ...[the OICW] was reverse-engineered from the Martian Military Command's Sabre assault rifles, of which ten were donated, along with four Martian specialists in Thermopulse directed energy technology.
The weapon casing is made from a highly experimental cermet (ceramic metal) compound, dubbed Titanramic. The exact composition is classified, but high-purity titanium and boron carbide are the two major ingredients. The result is a near-indestructable casing that also withstands extremely high temperatures induced from Thermopulse discharges without the outside of the weapon becoming hot.
The bullpup configuration allows for a longer effective barrel length compared to most contemporary assault rifles, and readily accepts virtually all box magazines up to 9mm cal., thanks to an experimental variable bore system. An atomic battery slides into the back of the buttstock where a receptacle below the bullpup mechanism draws electricity to power the targeting scope, GlobalCom uplink, taser prongs embedded into the muzzle and the Thermopulse generator tube. The atomic battery typically lasts 99 discharges before it needs to be replaced.
Another addition is the 20mm grenade launcher, with an experimental 4-round capacity cyclic magazine. The standard airburst grenades could be reconfigured in combat into delayed-detonation high explosive rounds. Acting like large-caliber rounds, these embed on impact into the target, personnel or materiel, and detonate in a spectacular fashion after a brief but noticable pause... - Declassified DSOC document on the VA Thermopulse OICW Enlist in Alpha Company today! That OICW is awesome! I love how is has a variable bore.
I've always liked this drawing, and I have to say that it's the best paper n' pencil representation of minifigs I've seen! I like how DSOC's armament is highly varied, as well. Fantastic work!

Your talent consistently impresses me, GreenLead. Between your artistic skill (it really is a well-crafted sketch) and your TechNotes, I'm finding myself rendered near-speechless. Kudos, sir.

Thanks for the kudos, everybody! kaboom4 wrote:Wow, really good sketches. I love Col. Igor. He's my favourite. Good job on yourself, too. Col. Vigo was based on a few Life on Mars characters (no I don't have any of the sets, or anything after 1999 :) ). I liked their heads but hated their bodies, so I combined the two :) He told me he grew up driving his Dad's (a four-star Martian Starfighter Corps General) tractor in the underground farms on Mars, when he was barely five. I asked him whether he was yelling as he ploughed through the land, "Goin' fast, Poppa!" and he nodded. Mind you, they all only speak unaccented English. brickarmsfan21 wrote:I really love how you sketched these men. are you actually gonna make them into Lego? It's on the top of my to-do list...after a top-secret personnal project that when completed, will help make all the custom helmets, the OICW and their harnesses. And MMCB can expect a sizeable purchase from me. :) obxcrew wrote:I've always liked this drawing, and I have to say that it's the best paper n' pencil representation of minifigs I've seen! Meh, obviously I had to credit myself for the artwork, but since "All Rights Reserved" was becoming a tad bit clichéd, I went the other way :) Enlist in Alpha Company today! GreenLead wrote:Spot the one available and two upcoming BAs' :) Err.. the MP5 is already available, the to upcoming are the Mk 48 and the Flashbang, which would stand in for a WP Grenade. Did I get them correct? Those are some great drawings, Greendlead, excellent and detailed. Excellently detailed. Were these guys influenced at all by Land Warrior or the FCS 'Vanguard'?
