I think a BrickArms Paratrooper (US) would be cool. It would essentially be a soldier with a parachute and possibly a new decal. He would have a Thomson or mabey a 'folding stock' M1 carbine. Anyone else thing this would be a good idea?

I'm working on just such a decal. We'll see how it turns out.

Definatly sounds like somthing to build on!!!

paratroopers:
from germany
from america

Im thinking also, the american paratrooper could carry the traditional tompson that brickarms provides but without the stock at the end. This was sometimes how the american paratroopers carried the tompson, as it was less bulky without the stock.

I think a cool BrickArms paratrooper could be made with the following parts:

- M1 Helmet
- TLC Head
- TLC Tan Body
- TLC Brown Hands
- Paratrooper Decal
- TLC Brown Backpack
- BA Thompson
- BA M1911

On the Thompson, I vote for the stock being retained, as usually only Pathfinders carried the modified Tommies. It would be fine either way, though. As for the M1A1 Carbine, it would have to be molded with the stock folded, as a minifigure cannot fire it with the stock extended. As a regular M1 Carbine would be more versital, I am against the M1A1 Carbine being made.

Definitely. No other color would suffice.

Damien has been working hard on one of these. I've seen a few of his designs, and they are looking better and better with each revision. Once we have something he likes, I'm sure he'll share it with you all.

I agree this is the most suitable Lego part available. I've experimented with removing the bedroll hump from the top of it to make it more "parachute-y", but all I succeeded in doing was making it look even blockier!

Perhaps a new, molded, one-piece, lumpy-looking, cloth-like chute is in order? Something like this, but smaller, and "saggier"? The top of it could have molded chute straps that gracefully blend-in to the torso near the shoulders, and at the waist. This would allow me to modify Damien's decal to have decaled straps running up and over the shoulders of the torso, to meet the molded chute in back. I could even recess the back of the molded item to allow it to fit into the Lego neck bracket w/back stud.

The gears are turning!

Sounds good! What color would the pack be molded in? If it is made in brown, like the upcoming M1 Garand, that would be great. I assume that by recessing the back of the parachute, you mean a small, square hole in the back. I think this is a great idea, as it would allow it to connect with the TLC neck bracket without copying their products. Also, what color would the included neck bracket be? I think black would be the best option (as it is not made in tan or brown).

Because 7620, coming out in Jan, comes with a dark tan torso, paratroopers could be made in dark tan.

Keep in mind, however, that new parts are available in much fewer number on the secondary market (where Will obtains all the parts used for the BA minifigs) and also tend to be much more expensive relative to other more widely available parts.

If Will were to make a paratrooper (and I haven't heard of plans to do so thus far aside from his above comments), tan is much more likely to be the color of the fig (for the time being).

Well, there is another parachute option. There is a guy who sells custom cloth pieces for figs. I wonder if he would make one?:-k Just google MMCB capes and you should find that site.

Not to be talking back, but dark tan has been out since Spiderman 2, but it may be easier to get with the Indy sets.
just my 2 cents.

True, I'd forgotten about Aunt May and yes, over time more and more dark tan torsos will become available as more and more German soldiers from Indy sets are available on the secondary market. Still, as they are new figures, they will be at a premium for at least several months after the sets are released and as such, it won't be cost effective for Will to purchase the larger numbers of the figures necessary to support a Brickarms MOC figure.

Actually, the German soldier in the new Indy set has a regular Tan body (I don't know why, the soldiers in that scene wore grey motorcyle coats). Henry Jones, Sr. has the Dark Tan body. Here's a link with pictures of the set.

Perhaps these minifigs could come with little plastic chutes... =) I always wanted to exercise the idea of putting them on display that way.

Good idea. A parachute would be pretty cool to. A new decal would be nice buy with Indiana Jones coming out, you can just get some of those decals and copy them onto yours. Oh Will, this may sound a little off topic but with your real LEGO tommy custom, it either has a 50 round mag, or a 100 round, not both*.

[MOD - Yes, it does sound a little off topic, because it is off-topic. In the future, any off-topic comments will just be deleted. - badger]

I see that there most likely won't be a M1A1 carbine, I understand why. For those of you who may not what we're talking about, here's a referance pic:

That pic isn't too big, is it? I think it's 170x380, or something like that.
Maybe a holster on the decal? Not a real one, just part of the a new decal similar to the Army Sergeant? Or a something to attach his gun to his pack?

Parachute is already in the works, just so you know ;)
MMCB Parachute

I might also be persuaded to make up some additional accessories, however the parachute alone would make it expensive enough.

Cheers,

MMCB, where did you get that terrific paratrooper decal? Did you design it?

Actually, it's a TLC Star Wars torso.
