I think that the above torso is a bit too... official. I think that this one would do for the officer:

I think it looks rugged, but still gets the point across that they are an officer.

Very nice, although I think that maybe the figure should have yellow arms and yellow hands, since it is quite hot and humid in Vietnam, so they would roll up their sleeves.

Thanks - I agree that Yellow arms would be better. And perhaps a different torso, as the one I used seems better for an officer (as GreenLead noted).

As for the guerilla, some SW torsos may work.

Yes, a standard TLC torso may work well for the guerilla instead of a decal. The weapons could be an AK, an RPG, an M24, and a TLC rubber band with eight M67s.

I don't know, I like the other torso better; mostly, I dislike the look of the revolver in the belt. But the one you suggested could still work.

From what I've looked at on google, you could make a US Vietnam soldier by giving the already offered Marine Sergeant an M4 instead of the M1 Thompson.

Could you get us that pic on Google Images?

I think that Olive Drab represented by TLC Green would be better.

Going by all the images I've seen, I agree.

Ya know, I really kind of agree obxcrew. With different ranks, we would have different outfits, right? The pith hat for those in higher ranks, and sun hats for "AK and RPG-totting guerillas". Ya know what i really think would be cool? if we used the m36 "potato masher" grenades for the VC because thats what they really used in the Viet-War. I'm really kind of into the Vietnam war games like Battlefield Vietnam. Another thing you could do (or at least what I did) is paint the stock of the ak47 brown and streak lines into it. it makes it a lot more realistic looking. same goes for the RPG compression chamber at the butt of the gun. thats what it looked like back then before they used metal compression tanks.

READ BEFORE VIEWING PHOTOS!!! When you click a link to one of my pictures (especially modifications), You need to look at the URL (when it says the picture is unnavailable), and notice it says BrickArms/Poofnut/Etc. Make sure that it says /Poofnut/Brickarms/etc. Replace the A in Arms with a lowercase to view the picture. Thanks, And I hope you like my pictures.

Hmm...sounds interesting...could work...

They did? I'd better check.

Keep in mind, though, for Will and his sons to individual paint all the AK-47 stocks brown is a monumental task, let alone the grain patterns of the wood. I insist that the weapons are sold in their native black ABS state, and (like I always suggest), get some Citadel/Testors/your favourite model store paints.

Same goeths for the RPG.

That's what MOCing's for : ) I personally like my brickarms guns to be "factory" stock, but I suppose adding a simulated woodgrain to the AK would look pretty spiffy.

It's a pity that TLC doesn't produce a figure in a shade slightly darker than olive.

I think a vietcong minifig should have a "Johnny Thunder" hat.

Just a side note, the rifle used by the US Infantry in the Vietnam War was the M16 (the M4 later replaced it). But then, maybe you know that already, and so we can use the BrickArms M4 to stand in place of the M16.

The M4 could act like a CAR-15 used by Spec Ops during Vietnam. Just my two cents. (P.S. CAR-15s are a commando version of the M4)

We will do this. It might not work but we have to try. To try and save people is better than watching them suffer. We must do this or die trying. This is the price of Delta Force.

Considering some of the newer heads made by TLC, I would think this head or this head would be better for a U.S. Soldier.

Just a thought, perhaps a hypothetical Vietnam-era grunt could be issued with an M14(M21 sans scope) instead of an M4?

What about Lt. Col. Hal Moore and Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumely?

Lt. Gen. James Longstreet: General Lee, if they put every man they have on this side of the Rappahannock; you give me enough ammunition and I'll kill every one of them.

Good choice, obxcrew! Somehow it just strikes me as exactly how an American infantryman looks in Vietnam.

Out of pure curiosity, I'm wondering if the minifigs can come with different heads each time i.e. the head on one could be the one obxcrew suggested, and the next could have a different one. Of course, the customer won't know what head s/he's getting because it would be randomly selected. Here are some possible suggestions:

Minifig Head Angry with Black Eyebrows, Clenched Teeth, and Scar Across Mouth Pattern

Minifig Head with Angry Expression, Orange Hair, and Beard Pattern

Minifig Head with Angry Eyebrows, Tense Mouth, White Pupils, and Gray Camoflage Pattern

A batch of each of these heads could be ordered, mixed in a small container labelled "US Vietnam Infantryman" and one picked at random when required.

I think that for a infantry man the first would be cool, the third would be cool for a sniper but the second is lame for vietnam soldier, it could be on a ww2 russian minifig, but not vietnam.
