Exactly! Once Corran gets his prototype (either today or tomorrow), and he gets a chance to post photos, you'll see how truly large this handgun is!

Does this mean no chance of getting a Brickarms Desert Eagle?

True, the Auto-9 and Desert Eagle are both very large pistols, but given the designs of the two weapons are very different, I'd say that the release of the Auto-9 really has no effect on the probability of Will producing a Desert Eagle some day (keeping in mind he's never spoken of any definite plans to do so)

Actually, the Desert Eagle does make several appearances in RoboCop. Aside from being Clarence's weapon of choice, it's also the weapon in the OCP boardroom used in the ED-209 demonstration and in the finale when the "Old Man" is held hostage.

This is a lovely looking weapon - Robocop is one of my favourite films, so I'll be ordering some of these for sure.

Will or Badger, I'm not sure where you wanted me to post these pictures, so I just did it in the general minifig forum.
EDIT: Fixed, thanks Badger!

The first is a modern classic of jet black social satire wrapped around a great sci-fi concept. The second is just hokey fun what with its brains in jars. The Third . . . well, Jill Hennesy I like, but that's about it.

The uniting feature: the Auto-9!

Apparently so. However, as the action and humor of RoboCop is fairly broad, it's much more accessible to the casual viewer than Blade Runner. Still, it's the biting social satire that makes RoboCop the modern classic that it is.

It's a shame that you didn't like Blade Runner, I happen to love the movie, it's gritty noir feel and it's depiction of city life. Robocop is a movie I'd watch with a group of guys though, during an action movie night.

I'd encourage you to rewatch RoboCop not as an action film, but as a critique of Regan-era politics in regards to personal responsibility, distribution of wealth, and the intersection of government, private business, and media. The film is an extremely effective action film, yes, but underneath that exterior is an exceptionally dark, biting comedy at the form the American pursuit of happiness and justice took at the time (and still does).

Also fun to watch for is the loads of Christ imagery . . . seriously. To Paul Verhoven, RoboCop is "the American Jesus" - full of angry, vengeful fury and ready to dispense final justice as he sees fit.

And yet, for all this analysis, no small part of me still goes "Ooo, Auto-9 goes BANG!" every time I watch it ;)

Did I read somewhere that this was a machine pistol? Or is it semi-auto?
