This is a dragunov I have been working on for a while,

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp355/nikc4/CIMG8115.jpg

I don't think anyone has ever made an accurate foregrip on the dragunov, they were always short, so I made one with the body of an ak, with the stock, grip, magazine, sight, barrel and knob in front of the mag cut off, and glued it onto where the grip would go. I hope that kind of explains what I did.

Comment's, criticism, etc. etc. always appreciated.

Nick

Honestly I've never met anyone who doesn't know what a Dragunov SVT is.

It's a nice mod Nikc but it looks like an AK-47 with an extended barrel, shortened clip, scope, and wire stock(although thats most likely how you made it).

The Dragunov SVD essentially looks like an AK-47 with an extended barrel, shortened clip, scope, and wire stock.

And this might help you out, Sgt. Striker:

Sadly, many games don't depict guns accurately (ahem... counter-strike). If the SVD is good enough to still be in profound military use 45 years after its creation, it's probably a pretty kicker gun.

See Users on this page for the "profound military use":

Fairly accurate design and all, but it seems a bit rough and there's a good bit of glue showing. Maybe pin certain things (scope, barrel) to the body of the gun. as opposed to gluing them?

Nice work, though.

Actually the SVD has a longer and thinner body than the AK-47 and the wooden part (Over the back of the barrel) is also thinner and longer with 6 holes in it.

Counterstrike doesn't have a Dragunov, and your Dragunov looks nice. But it is to short and the butt is kinda funky looking. Since I own an SVD(and Counterstrike), I think I should know what I'm talking about!

I know CS doesn't have a svd, unless you use skins like I do, but in general, CS sucks as far as accuracy goes. Great game though. I'm not sure what's wrong with the stock, other than the obvious(has to be fig compatible). Maybe if you told me what was wrong with it i could work on it. Also, how'd you get an SVD in New York, they're illegal in the US. Was it already here before the law got passed?

This is the most accurate recreation I've seen, being a Dragunov lover myself. Although a rough cut the full AK body makes it stand out more then all the other Dragunov mods with just elongated barrels.

The real hand grip on a Dragunov is impossible to make Minifig compatible so the wire stock is the best we are going to get.

As for COD4, I don't see why so many people think it sucks. Try going up against me with my Gold Dragunov and tell me it still sucks.

He is probably talking about a Romanian PSL. It is legal to buy and looks like a Dragunov but is technically a long AK with different furniture. They are typically called Dragunovs but are not. Oh and I also have one too.

looks good, if a little short in barrel length. i take it the skeletonized stock is to simulate the thumbhole stock on the SVD?

the AK-47 fires a 7.62x39mm round, while the SVD and romanian PSL fire the beefier 7.62x54R round. for all intents and purposes the SVD and PSL are the same, barring the manufacture of the reciever. the PSL, manufactured in Romania, is Ok under US import law. russian manufacured arms are not.

as for the real-life accuracy of the SVD/PSL, well, they're more of a designated marksman's rifle than a dedicated sniping weapon.

If any idiot actually made a solid gold SVD it would weigh a ton be totally inaccurate and on top of that it would break easily.

I have extreme skills on both COD4 and 5, and also, I use my Red Tiger MP44 on 4, and my Apertured StG 44 on 5, yeah, thats right, I went there!
:P

:)

By the way, great MOC!

Caliber doesn't mater on the scale we deal with for Lego and Minifigs... well anything short of 6" and up anyway. The Dragunov is Kalashnikov and the law states that NO Kalashnikov weapons can be imported into the US. I'm pretty sure the Dragunov itself is a pure sniper weapon but the cheaper Romanian PSL is specifically a DMR.

the '89 import ban banned several rifles by name, and several countries of manufacture. the PSL gets around this by being made in romania (they also make semiauto AK-47s, imported as WASR-10s and the like) but the PSL is identical to the SVD, and is cheaper because of the rarity of legally imported russian SVDs

i really hate to argue, especially since its off topic and i'm new. I found the site while looking up some firearms and though "i love legos, i love guns. sweet!" figured id share some knowledge with some people who, for one reason or another, might not ever get to experience these arms. check this link, its cited in the SVD wiki: http://www.snipercentral.com/svd.htm

again, great mod, and sorry if i stepped on any toes.
